Want to learn how to textures faces? The Evil Gnome head texturing tutorial is a great place to start. You will begin this tut by importing the gnome face model into Maya where you will set up your model to lay out flat UV's for painting. Some of the tools covered in the layout sections are planar map, cylinderical map, move and sew uv's. Once our UV's are complete we will take a UV snap shot in Maya and then import that into Photoshop where we will learn how to hand paint textures for areas like a bump map and color map.
In Photoshop we will cover paint tools and using layers and filters. In the last section there will be some textures built using Maya's built-in shaders for the eyes and horns.
